Most properties of non-standard construction (high rise flats, concrete houses, concrete bungalows etc) will appear on what is known as the defective list and therefore are not deemed mortgageable unless they have been repaired’.

This means that the non-standard construction property has been repaired to a certain standard.

A non-standard construction type is anything that deviates from the standard construction type definition. The standard definition is a house, flat or high rise apartment built from brick and/or block walls. They usually also have standard pitched and tiled roofing and concrete foundations.

All lenders have their own underwriting requirements for these types of properties as these properties are seen defected properties.
